HCU Police Chief John Karshner swore in the University鈥檚 newest officer, Raymond Moore, on Sept. 25, in a special swearing-in ceremony in Belin Chapel.
During the ceremony, HCU police chief described law enforcement as the only profession where you have to deal with problems all of the time and where officers are called to earn the public鈥檚 trust whether directing traffic, assisting a citizen with a flat tire or getting a cat out of a tree.
鈥淚t is incumbent upon you and everybody else here to every day elevate so we are better,鈥 said Chief Karshner during the swearing-in ceremony. 鈥淪o, when I say you’re taking an oath today, it’s very serious. 聽As long as you鈥檝e got the badge and you’re a police officer, it’s expected that you’ll keep that oath.鈥
Moore graduated from the Alvin Community College Police Academy in July and hopes to make a positive impact as the newest member of the HCU Police Department.
The department also welcomed Yolanda Mena earlier this year to the University鈥檚 team of officers.
