The McNair Center for Entrepreneurship and Free Enterprise at Houston Baptist University will host a ribbon-cutting for the newest addition to the center, The Lighthouse Lab, at 11:15 a.m., Tuesday, May 15, in Room 204 of the Hinton Center, 7502 Fondren Road.
The lab allows users to hone in on technology with a maker lab including 3-D printers, sublimation (product imprinting) equipment, augmented and virtual reality, and other interactive equipment. The center is for students of all majors and for utilization by faculty members for specialized instruction.
Michael Player, administrative director of HBU鈥檚 McNair Center, and Jeffrey Frey, academic director of the center, will showcase the lab and share exciting developments on the horizon for the center. 鈥淭echnology broadens the imagination to show what鈥檚 available,鈥 Player said. 鈥淭he vision of HBU鈥檚 president, Dr. Robert B. Sloan, along with namesake Robert C. McNair鈥檚 vision, is that when people start up businesses, that gives them the opportunity to hire somebody. That鈥檚 missional; that provides work for many people. I want to thank the McNairs, and The Robert and Janice McNair Foundation, for their support and their ideas for moving free enterprise back into its rightful place.鈥
Established in 2016, The McNair Center for Entrepreneurship and Free Enterprise at Houston Baptist University advocates for free market economics, and for the creation of cultivation of entrepreneurs. Visit HC.edu/McNair to learn more.
